Helpful Links about Trading and the Development of Trading Systems

Here is a small collection of useful links:

1) www.mql4.com

Mql4.com is an English forum on the MetaTrader 4 programming language MQL4
You will also find helpful programming suggestions.

2) http://metatrader5.blogspot.com

English-speaking forum, which deals with the new MetaTrader-platform version 5. Useful when changing to MetaTrader5 as well as getting an overview of the changes.

3) www.zentrader.de

The website also commits itself to the development of trading systems. A major focus is the use of the Monte Carlo simulation. The site is operated by the author of the book "Monte Carlo Simlation und System Trading". Part of the author's offer is a very good tool for self-application of the Monte Carlo simulation to system and data simulation.

4) http://expert-advisor.com/

Expert-Advisor.com is still a young forum, which is characterized above all by a variety of information about commercially available Expert Advisors. Since its inception it has created a very appealing collection of knowledge about the various trading systems. Spam is removed immediately and dubious business practices being disclosed! A very informative forum that's not to be missed if you are interested in one of the many EAs.

5) http://kreslik.com/forums/

Actually, only one of many forums, but with two special features. One special feature is the board administrator Michal Kreslik. He is an obviously very smart trader who may teach you a lot about system trading. If you bring some time and already have a good understanding of the development of Expert Advisors, you can gain much knowledge from his sometimes very long threads. The second feature is the very detailed thread on Triangular-Arbitrage. Every developer of automated trading systems will eventually have to deal with arbitrage trading. In theory and in the back-test it is thus easy to get rich with a 100 % success rate. In real trading, unfortunately, you very quickly reach the limits of technology and/or the broker. We've tried ourselves: it is an extremely exciting subject, but perhaps we will tell more about it in the "Knowledge" section ..

6) Forecasting Financial Time-Series

The classical development of trading systems is the recovery of historical signals/data/events. This article is a very good introduction into forecasting. In search of long-term stable trading approaches for the 100% automation, this article can be very helpful. The issue is very complex and it takes time to become familiar in it, but the reward is usually an unprecedented performance of your Expert Advisors.

7) Forex Tools

The page Mataf.net contains very interesting tools for analysis and understanding of higher-level relationships between currency pairs. A particularly interesting tool is the Forex-Correlation tool. In Search of currency pairs that have very similar or even identical patterns of movement, this tool is a great help.

8) Dukascopy & JForex

In search of the best broker, each trader sooner or later visits Dukascopy. Dukascopy till today does not provide a MetaTrader connection and according to DC there will not be any, but nevertheless the automation of trading approaches is possible with Dukascopy. On the one hand, there is already a bridge for transmission of trades from MetaTrader to Dukascopy, on the other hand, the advanced trader can also apply his completely independent programming to the DC platform with JForex. A full documentation of JForex Library is also provided online. There is now also a small Forum, but do not expect any miracles here, because the community is still very small and there are unfortunately many bugs in the software whose remedy may easily take a few weeks. The Bridgefor the transmission of trades from MetaTrader to Dukascopy may be downloaded from sourceforge.net, among other possible sources. CAUTION: Before you use the bridge for your own trading, you should test it carefully! In general, you have to adapt the bridge to your own needs and apply numerous reprogrammings!

9) www.kathylien.com

If you still want to learn something about trading, you are at Kathy Lien at the right place. Her book Day Trading and Swing Trading the Currency Market is in our opinion one of the best books about foreign exchange trading. It is not about automation, but to foster understanding of markets, movement patterns and recurring setups. In collaboration with Boris Schlossberg she also has not written a very interesting e-book, "High Probability Trading Setups for the Currency Market".

10) Forex Calendar

overview I on forexfactory.com / / overview II on fxstreet.com / / overview III on forexeconomiccalendar.com / / overview IV on forexpros.com / / overview V on dailyfx.com / / ... for each trader there should be something...

11) Pip-Value Calculator

A question often asked: What is the current value of 1 lot of EUR/GBP in EUR or USD? This information is also important for the development of multi-currency strategies in which the EA is running on only one chart, but various other currency pairs with different pip values shall be traded correctly.

12) Candlesticks

Steve Nison is regarded as one of the inventors of the candlesticks. Whether for manual trading or the development of trading systems, no successful trader may avoid candlesticks and the high reliability of many formations. A good introduction to the world of candlesticks is found at asprenses.com / / on profitsrun.com / / if you want to know more, there is a 330-page e-book (not quite up to date, but technically very good) at ebookspdf.com or latrobefinancialmanagement.com / / for a very respectable power-point presentation on the topic, see tradingourway.com / / and last but not least there is a very nice introduction at optionsuniversity.com

13) Equity Curve Simulator

On this page you will find the usual formations (e. g. triangle, W, M) a lot more formations. Each formation is described in detail and contains interesting information on how to apply, which market phases should dominate, and so on. Both for manual trading and for the advanced programmer this page is very supportive in the development of a profitable trading approach or even a fully automated expert advisor. The layout of the site is certainly not up to date, but the content certainly provide lots of useful information about trading.

14) Chartformationen

Both for manual trading and for the advanced programmer this page is very supportive in the development of a profitable trading approach or even a fully automated expert advisor. The layout of the site is certainly not up to date, but the content certainly provide lots of useful information about trading.

15) Forex - Trading-Strategien

On this site many (more or less) interesting trading strategies are disclosed. Although we have no evidence that they are profitable, definitely some approaches and setups are presented which are worth considering. For all developers of trading systems who are always on the lookout for new ideas which they may be incorporate into their trading, this is an absolutely recommendable site.

16) Stock-Screening

Although this site has at first glance very little to do with automation and also there is no connection to the traditional foreign exchange trading, it contains very interesting information for all traders who like to trade according to clear rules. For all stock traders among us, this site features a truly incredible number of parameters for automatically displaying the relevant shares. If, for example, you want to know which stocks were sold today at its most extreme, you can filter them here with a few mouse clicks. An expert advisor does little else. On the basis of clear rules predefined decisions and actions are made.
